Life and ministry has gotten a little crazy over the last several months. However, in all of the craziness, the Lord continues to build His church.
Just before Christmas, we had a major windstorm that caused some damage to the roof of our house. After about 2 months of negotiating with our home insurance company, it seems the replacement of our roof is going to be covered. This is a huge answer to prayer as a full roof replacement is not something we had in our budget. The roofer is having materials delivered this week and plans to start the work on Monday of next week.
While negotiating with the insurance company, our minivan began having issues. We knew that we would likely have to purchase a new (to us) vehicle this year but didn’t expect to have issues so soon. This was particularly concerning for us as we were facing the possibility of having to use the funds we had saved for a vehicle to replace our roof.
It seems that every-other week we are discovering new noises and issues with our current minivan. We hope to be able to purchase a vehicle before the summer so that we can minimize the amount that we will have to spend on repairs.
This month we began a construction project at the church to renovate the bathrooms and foyer. Last year we discovered a leak in a base board heater that requires us to repair the floor around it. Because this repair would affect part of one of the bathrooms and the foyer, it just made sense to do a renovation as the bathrooms were very out-dated. If it were not for the generosity of many supporting churches, this project would not have been possible. I am thankful for the talented men that God has given us to allow us to do the majority of this work ourselves.
This year one of our goals is to see our Spanish ministry grow. Lindsey and I have been taking Spanish classes for 5 months now and it has really been paying off. We have a long way to go but feel that we are at a place that we can begin a more focused effort to reach Spanish speakers as a church. I am hopeful to be able to start and teach Spanish Sunday school classes by next year. Please pray with us about this goal.
We have seen the Lord continue to add to the church. In January we added another member. James trusted Christ last year and was baptized in August. He made the decision to join the church and has been a great addition and a huge blessing to our church family. He has been actively witnessing to family members and co-workers and we are already seeing fruit from his efforts. Please pray for his growth and for the salvation of his family members and co-workers.
The last few weeks have brought us several first-time visitors most of which have been Spanish speakers. Please pray for us as we follow-up on these visits and for wisdom as we communicate the gospel in Spanish.
Several families in our church have been working to reach family members, friends, and co-workers with the gospel. I am looking forward to sharing how the Lord works through these efforts in upcoming prayer letters. There are several who are having regular and on-going conversations with friends and family about the gospel and their need for Christ.
Thank you for your faithful prayers and continued support for our ministry.
