Dear Praying Friends,
The last couple of months have been full of activity and excitement at Community Baptist Church. Since our last update we have seen another person saved. Tyler accepted Christ on his front porch several weeks ago and is now being discipled. The growth we have seen in Tyler’s life has been exciting. Please pray for him as he continues to grow in his walk with the Lord.
In our last letter we told you about Ericka — a young lady that Lindsey was able to lead to the Lord. Ericka has been going through discipleship with Lindsey and is growing. When we sent our last update, she had not yet attended a service because of concerns with COVID-19. However, she has now been attending faithfully for several weeks and has jumped right into serving at Community. It has been a blessing to watch Ericka grow.
Please continue to pray as we have made many contacts who still need to be saved. We have a long list of names of people in our community we have been able to build relationships with and are praying will be saved very soon.
On August 16th we had our “Grand Opening” service. We had 26 in attendance 7 of which were first time visitors. We have been averaging around 15 for our Sunday services. We praise the Lord that some of the people for which we have been praying attended the service and heard a clear presentation of the gospel. Please pray the Lord would use the message they heard to show them their need of salvation.
Ministry has kept us very busy. Currently, Lindsey is meeting weekly with two ladies for one-on-one discipleship/Bible-study. Nick is currently meeting with three men on a weekly basis. We have discussed the need to get some of the more mature believers who have come to help in planting Community, to help in the work of discipling new believers. One of the ladies has already started an evangelistic Bible-study with a lady named Laurie. Laurie has a lot of questions and Abi has done a great job in meeting with her regularly and helping her understand the gospel. Please pray for Laurie’s salvation and for wisdom for Abi as she helps Laurie’s understanding of the gospel.
We are excited about the growth we have been seeing in people’s lives and the way the Lord has been building His church in Lawrence. The work here in Lawrence is certainly the Lord’s. Almost nothing over the last several months has gone according to our plans but the Lord has been faithful to remind us how little He needs us and how much we need Him. Nothing that has happened in the last several months caught Him by surprise; it has all fit perfectly into His plan for Community Baptist Church. He is building His church and all the glory belongs to Him.
