Dear Praying Friends,
We are excited to share with you what the Lord has been doing in our ministry over the last couple of months.
We have continued to see visitors coming to our church on a regular basis. Many of the visitors have become regular attenders and I expect to be discussing church membership with several families in the coming weeks. Our average attendance on Sunday mornings has been in the mid 30’s for the last 3 months. It is awesome to watch the Lord build His church.
This Sunday, at the beginning of our morning service I had to wait about 5 minutes for people to stop fellowshipping and get to their seats to start the service so that I could be heard. The Lord reminded me of the times in the past that you could have heard a pin drop 10 minutes before time to start our services. I used those 5 minutes to thank God for the way He has built our church in the last two years.
The most exciting news that we have to share, is that a lady who has been visiting our church trusted Christ a few weeks ago. We met together after the morning service to discuss the gospel for four weeks. During the week between our third and fourth meeting, Mercy trusted Christ. Please pray for this dear lady as she grows in her relationship with the Lord. I have asked one of the young ladies in our church to begin discipling Mercy. It is exciting to see someone that we have won to Christ and discipled, discipling someone else. Please pray for Mercy and Emmanuela.
Thank you for your prayers for our family. As you know, we moved into our new home in Lawrence back in December. We were excited to get to know our neighbors and have opportunities to develop friendships and share the gospel. Now that the weather has gotten better, we have seen many opportunities to get to know our neighbors. Please pray for gospel opportunities for our family in our neighborhood.
In our last letter we asked you to join us in prayer and to consider helping us raise the $120,000.00 down payment for our building. I must be honest, as I wrote that prayer letter I felt like the man in Mark 9 who said to the Lord, “I believe, help thou my unbelief.”
I am excited to share that the Lord has done exceeding, abundantly above all that we could ask or think, again. The Lord has provided the entire need for the downpayment. Through the sacrificial giving of God’s people, $122,000.00 has been raised. We praise God for His provision.
Because of the rapid nature of the way the Lord has chosen to provide for this need, many had planned to give but didn’t have the opportunity to do so before the need was met. The additional funds that come in will be directed to covering the cost of replacing the roof on the church building. We do not currently have any leaks but we would like to see this project done before any leaks develop. At best, we are only a couple of winters or a big storm away from developing leaks and having a much bigger mess on our hands. The total cost to replace the roof is going to be about $30,000.00. Would you please pray that our roof would hold out until we are able to have this work done? We know that the Lord will provide for this need as well.
I want to say a special thank you to those who gave sacrificially to the Lord and our ministry to provide for the down payment on our building. The Lord has used your faithfulness and obedience to His leading to teach our little, young church that we serve a God who provides and can be trusted.
We are thankful for all of you who are faithful to pray for and support our ministry. The fruit that we are seeing on a weekly basis, is fruit that will abound to your account in eternity.
