Open Doors and Gospel Opportunities

October 27, 2025 by Nick Stelzig 3 Comments

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. The Lord has been opening doors for ministry in powerful ways here in Lawrence, and we are excited to share some recent updates.

October Prayer UpdateDownload

In August we held our first neighborhood meeting at the church. We had about 20–25 neighbors in attendance, and it was a wonderful opportunity to build relationships with those around the church. We are praying this will open doors for gospel conversations and help our neighbors feel more comfortable around our church. The next meeting is scheduled for November 13, and several people have expressed interest in coming and bringing others along with them. We hope these meetings will become a quarterly routine and continue to provide opportunities to serve our community and connect with people to share the gospel.

For a couple of months I have been meeting regularly for an evangelistic Bible study with a man who has been attending our church. We are praying that the Lord would open his heart to the gospel and that he would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Through our neighborhood block party in the summer, the Lord has also opened doors to minister to law enforcement. We are now working together with the Lawrence Police Department to develop a police chaplaincy program. I have also been scheduled to be sworn in as a volunteer chaplain with the Massachusetts State Police on November 6. The last two dates had to be rescheduled due to being bumped by the Governor, but we are praying that this appointment will stand and I can begin ministering to our State Troopers as a chaplain soon.

Homeschooling for Lindsey and the kids is in full-swing. This year Lucy has started Kindergarten. That means Lindsey is homeschooling three and trying to keep Violet occupied without a sibling to play with during school. Lindsey needs our prayers.

Lindsey has connected with a mom at a playground near our house, where the kid’s go each day for “recess”. Please pray for the Lord to open the door for Lindsey to continue to connect and share the gospel with this mom.

Please pray for Lucy. She has had a lot of questions about the gospel and her relationship with the Lord. We get the sense that she is under conviction but is resistant. It has been encouraging to see Gabe’s and Ellie’s concern for their little sister’s salvation. Please pray for Lindsey and I to have wisdom with teaching Gabe, Ellie, Lucy, and Violet. Pray for Lucy and Violet’s early salvation.

It has been amazing to watch the Lord opening doors into our community. We feel like after 5 years of trying to make connections in the community, we are finally beginning to get some traction.  Please pray for wisdom and opportunities for the gospel.

Please pray for:

  • Lucy and Violet’s salvation.
  • Opportunities to share the gospel as we connect with people in our community.
  • Gospel opportunities at our neighborhood meeting on November 13 and for new gospel connections.
  • The evangelistic Bible study with a man attending our church, that the Lord would give clarity and open this man’s heart to the gospel.
  • The police chaplaincy and opportunities to minister to state and local law enforcement, that things would move forward smoothly.

We are so thankful for your partnership in prayer. The Lord is at work, and we are privileged to be a part of what He is doing in here in Lawrence.

All hail to the Stelzig family, may God bless you all, Thanks for the update on what is going on in Lawrence. We will be praying that all these things that you mentioned in your letter will bring people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ! From my experience with children we know that God will deal with them early and most of our children were saved by the ages of 4-6. I will pray that this will happen with your children. Keep up the good work that you are doing and remember that prayers are being said for you all until we all hear the “SHOUT”!
